Ja Morant: Shot Form Assessment
The main issue with Morant’s shooting mechanics is his elbow angle, which ranges from acute to very acute. Combined with his small size and thus lower release point, this makes distance control very difficult due to the flatter arc of the shot. He also has a dip in his form and a somewhat slow release. While his mechanics don’t improve in catch-and-shoot situations (in fact, very acute elbow angle and a flexed wrist were more common in the small sample), his results have been significantly better on these shots, hitting center distance 50% of the time.
