Grant Williams: Shot Form Assessment
Williams has good shooting mechanics despite his low volume usage on the perimeter. His base is consistently square to the basket, though he does have a couple minor issues there. His knees occasionally move outward, which can sap some power from the shot. Also, his feet are often not in line with each other (right foot forward), which can lead to some torsion in the shot. However, these two issues don’t seem to be impacting the bottom line for him, as his side-to-side accuracy is stellar and his tendency is to miss long more often than short. His elbow angle can vary to some degree, but generally is solid. His wrist action, however, is quite inconsistent, which contributes to the distance control issues. Developing a more consistent release will be important to developing an NBA range 3-point shot. Nonetheless, his form projects quite well overall.
