Darius Garland: Shot Form Assessment
Garland has a smooth and fast jumper with good lift and a high release point. His base is square most of the time, and he has proven able to keep his shot on line even when his alignment is slightly off. A slightly acute elbow angle isn’t quite ideal, but still allows him to get good arc on his shot. His flexed wrist impacts his distance control; he hit center distance about twice as often with a soft wrist or flick of the wrist, albeit on a tiny sample. Most of his attempts came off the dribble, where he is able to get into his shooting motion very quickly. He projects to be impactful in off-ball settings as well, if an NBA team can pair him with a wing that has some creation equity.
